The Massachusetts Library Legislative Caucus is a group of state legislators dedicated to supporting libraries and advocating for library-related legislation. The caucus works to ensure that residents can access the resources libraries offer, such as free internet, computer skills training, and a wide range of reading materials. The caucus actively advocates for policies that benefit libraries and their communities, including increased funding and addressing issues such as eBook pricing and intellectual freedom.
The caucus collaborates with the Massachusetts Library Association (MLA) and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) to develop and implement legislative agendas. "Freedom to read" is on the MBLC's current legislative agenda.
